    as the slightest vibration or knock to the pot will cause the output voltage

    to fall causing erratic operation, or worse still, 

    rise above the safe operating voltage or your equipment

    causing irreparable damage.

Very low power consumption (<1mA) with no load, so good for solar / battery powered equipment.

High Efficiency (upto 96%) as switching frequency is approx 1MHZ.
